Hi everyone,
I'm reading a Wikipedia article on the World Trade Center (1973-2001):
Yamasaki's [the architect] design [of the Twin Towers] for the World Trade Center, unveiled to the public on January 18, 1964, called for a square plan approximately 208 feet (63 m) in dimension on each side.
What does "square plan" mean? Does it refer to the square foundations of the buildings?

  • In a way, yes, but more accurately it refers to the shape of the building, as seen from above. The shape it would be if you were to draw a diagram (or 'plan') of it on paper:
