What is a protist?
Protist make up this entire kingdom within the four major groups. They represent an incredibly large and diverse group( plant-like protists (algae), fungi-like protists, and the animal-like protists (protozoans). Most are unicellular, some are colonial, and others are simply multicellular organisms closely related to single protist cells. Protist can be either heterotrophic( depend on other organisms for food) or autotrophic (can turn an inorganic element into food). Most live in water, though some live in soil or even the human body. All protist are eukaryotic, which means they have a nucleus.
