Take a Look at the Japan-Exclusive 2024 Nissan Skyline Nismo

The rumour mill that spits out information about an eventual fully electric Nissan GT-R is rolling full steam. And while Nissan has given its sporty Z coupe a well-deserved (and awaited) Nismo variant, everyone wants to know what Nissan’s motorsport division will have in store when the manufacturer pulls the plug on gas-powered sports cars.

For now, the Nissan Skyline (which is our Infiniti Q50) is also getting the Nismo treatment. Its production will be limited to 1,000 units only, and, of course, all of them will stay in Japan.

First, buyers can expect a performance bump - a benefit that usually comes with the Nismo badge. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 (which is similar to the one you’ll find under the hood of the Z) now makes 414 horsepower and 406 lb-ft. Sport and Sport+ driving modes make changes to the car’s personality, but also to the seven-speed automatic transmission.

Chassis upgrades are also part of the package. The suspension has received its own set of "specially tuned" parameters aimed at reducing roll. The exclusive 19-inch Enkei wheels are lighter, wider, and stronger than those used on other Skylines. Nissan has given it wider tires at the rear, which are stickier all around. The calipers contain upgraded brake pads as well.

Outside, this new Skyline is all Nismo, with a specific body kit that includes front and rear fascias, side sills, upgraded LED lighting in the front, and badges all around.

Inside, the signature Nismo red/black is carried over, with specific branding on the available Recaro seats, centre console, and instrument cluster.

This new and exclusive Skyline Nismo will launch in September at a starting price of 7,880,400 yen, which converts to a little over US$55,000 and a little under CAD$75,000.
