Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero is reportedly “very close” to agreeing a move to Barcelona once his contract with the Premier League leaders expires in the summer.

There have been “intense negotiations” between Barca and Aguero in recent days with the Catalan giants keen to snap up Aguero as a free agent, according to TyC Sports.

The report states there’s a two-year contract on the table for Aguero and a deal to bring in the 32-year-old could all be wrapped up pretty shortly.

Another report from La Porteria claims an agreement is “imminent” and states that Aguero has agreed to take a pay cut in order to move to the Camp Nou.

There have been other clubs reportedly interested in Aguero but it seems the Argentine is keen to head back to La Liga after a decade in the Premier League.

If the move does come off then it would see Aguero link up with compatriot and good friend Lionel Messi, and it’s been speculated his arrival may help convince the captain to stick with Barca after his contract expires.

Aguero’s not featured much for City this season, largely due to injury, but will leave the Etihad Stadium as the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
