The PS5 Slim disc console has dropped to £458.99 at Amazon and PS5 Slim digital console is £389 via EE.

The PlayStation 5 Pro has yet to be officially announced, which means a release date has also yet to be confirmed. However, it does seem likely given the previous consoles release patterns, which saw both a PS3 Slim and Super Slim unveiled, as well as a PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro, which launched simultaneously and brought 4K visuals and a 1TB hard drive.

The PS4 Pro was released three years after the original PS4, the PS5 launched in November 2020, and the PS5 Slim consoles launched in November 2023. Delays are understandable given the impact of the pandemic, and the stock shortages which plagued the Sony consoles in the early days.

The current rumours about the PS5 Pro suggest it could launch towards the end of 2024, which would likely mean discounts for the relatively new PS5 Slim disc and digital models. We'll keep this page updated as we know more.

The PS5 Slim launched on Wednesday 29 November 2023, the original PS5 stock is now discontinued, and the stock is mostly sold out, aside from some pre-owned consoles, retailers have moved to exclusively selling the new slimmer console.

The PlayStation 5 Slim disc console is available for the same RRP as the original console (£479.99), as is the PS5 digital console (£389.99), there is also an attachable disc drive available for £99.99, to upgrade the digital console, in case customers change their mind at a later date.

The long-rumored PlayStation 5 Slim, launched in the US and UK in November 2023. The standard consoles have now been replaced by the PS5 Slim as stock becomes unavailable, and most of the original consoles sold out during Black Friday 2023. The initial bundles included a PS5 Slim and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Spider-Man 2, or EA Sports FC 24.

The big changes are that it is 30% smaller, as well as packing an expanded 1TB hard drive (current size is 825GB with 667.2GB of usable space). The bigger hard drives will be in both the PS5 Slim Digital Edition and PS5 Slim Disc Edition. There will also be a detachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive available for purchase (£99.99 / $79.99) to allow Digital Editon owners to benefit from discs in case they change their minds later.

The design will have a combo of a glossy finish on the top, and a matte design on the bottom, and there are also plans for PlayStation to release some new coloured plates, including red, blue, and silver available from PlayStation directly.

It's hard to do a definite comparison between the two options ahead of release, however, the key thing to know is that the PS5 Slim will eventually replace the current PS5 models entirely, so there won't be much time when you can choose between them, and for now, the original consoles will remain slightly cheaper if you can find any stock.

Amazon dropped the PS5 Slim disc edition to £389.99 as part of the Amazon Spring Sale in March 2024, which is the lowest price ever for the slimmer console, although the company required you to join Amazon Prime to secure an extra £20 discount. Otherwise, the lowest price has been £409 (RRP £479.99).

The retailer dropped the new PS5 standard disc console bundle with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to £409, ahead of Black Friday 2023. However, as the stock ran low, the prices varied between £409.99 - £520. The standalone PS5 standard console dropped to £379.99 - £462 following that sale.

Prime Big Deal Days 2023, which ran from October 11-12, didn't see any major discounts on the console, beyond the EA Sports FC bundle for £409.99, and the PS5 disc console for £467.

The cheapest price on standard PS5 consoles overall came from ShopTo via their eBay shop during Black Friday 2023 at just £359.85 (RRP £479.99). This increased to £421.85, before selling out. Occasionally eBay also runs extra discount codes giving you an extra 10-20% discount on purchases.

You could check out eBay generally to get your Sony console second-hand, but we'd advise you to head over there with caution as the consoles are often on sale for inflated prices. Some major retailers have their own stores which we'd recommend, such as ShopTo and Music Magpie.

That said, sellers will be charged eBay fees, which will be deducted from items and postage. Some companies are selling professionally refurbished consoles for discounted prices.

Prices on eBay will vary quite drastically, so keep in mind that the RRP for the PS5 is now £479.99 for the disc model and £389.99 for the all-digital edition. Make sure you also read buyers' reviews and stick to reputable sellers.

When it comes to PS5 stock, Argos is a tricky one. Yes, it's a great retailer, and the idea of collecting your console from the catalogue shopper on your local high street is hard to pass up.

However, Argos often lists having PlayStation 5 consoles available... but only in certain areas. You'll have to pop in your postcode on the page to check your chances. If don't mind shopping around, you can select your city or county and then click 'happy to travel' to reveal where your nearest console is.

While Argos' PS5 stock might be harder to predict than the weather, it has delivered some outstanding savings on brand-new PlayStation 5 games during the Black Friday sales, in November 2023 they dropped PS5 disc consoles with Modern Warfare 3 to £399.99.

John Lewis & Partners is a mixed bag when it comes to PS5 stock. However, its best offer during Black Friday 2023 was the PS5 disc console for £389.99. Before this, the PS5 disc and CoD: MW3 bundle dropped to £409.99.

Its PS5 digital console deal with an extra controller for £439.99 was also solid. They have now started selling PS5 Slim consoles, which are available for pre-order.

The biggest advantage of buying PS5 from John Lewis is the two-year warranty that comes as standard with the purchase.
