Stage 6 and 7 Validated Health Systems Drive Digital Reform at HIMSS22 Middle East

The regional HIMSS community met in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the 2022 HIMSS Middle East Health Conference & Exhibition to reform the health sector to be effective and integrated for the health of its people.

Attracting over 2,500 registrants, the November conference reunited healthcare and IT leaders from Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates for world-class education and networking.

Attendees also celebrated various health systems for achieving HIMSS Maturity Model Stage 6 and 7 validations. Each was praised for outstanding innovation and leadership in health information technology to improve patient care and safety.

The HIMSS suite of digital health maturity models provides prescriptive frameworks for healthcare organizations to assess their current digital maturity status, then propose an investment and vendor-neutral roadmap toward a digital deployment success. HIMSS offers seven maturity models and one Digital Health Indicator in the suite for all care delivery environments.

HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model

EMRAM measures the maturity of Electronic Medical Record adoption across five focus areas to strengthen organizational performance and health outcomes of patient populations.

The internationally applicable EMRAM incorporates methodology and algorithms to score a whole hospital, including inpatient, outpatient and day-case services. EMRAM assesses hospitals on their digital maturity and provides a detailed road map to digital transformation and outcomes focused user adoption.

The HIMSS Outpatient Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (O-EMRAM) assesses EMR implementation for outpatient facilities of hospitals and health systems throughout the world. It guides the data-driven advancement of facilities with EMR technology.

The Infrastructure Adoption Model (INFRAM) assesses and maps the technology infrastructure capabilities required to reach clinical and operational goals while meeting international benchmarks and standards.

Congratulations to King Abdulaziz Medical City Riyadh that achieved INFRAM Stage 7 in 2022, which is now its fourth Stage 7 achievement on the HIMSS Maturity Models along with EMRAM, O-EMRAM and AMAM. This is the only organization in the world that has achieved the highest levels of digital adoption in those different areas of health provision measured by HIMSS.
