The country border touches Ethiopia to the east, Sudan to the north, the Central African Republic to the west, Congo to the southwest, Uganda to the south, and Kenya to the Southeast. The name of the country derives from the Arabic bilad as-Sudan or the "Land of the Blacks".It is fascinating to know that South-Sudan currency depicts a herd of giraffes on the backside of the note. The front side of the note features Dr. John Garang de Mabior. He was a Sudanese politician and revolutionary leader, and Dinka warrior. The legends on the note are, “Bank of South Sudan; Promise to pay the bearer on demand; and One South Sudanese Pound”. The 1 pound note of South Sudan is worth 200 Rupees only.
