What educators are saying

A great lab for protist. AB has every detail down and ready for you to take care of your lab day. Highly recommend.
I needed a lab for my Protist unit in Microbiology. I did not know where to start. I've used many of these organisms in the past in my biology class but not in the same way. The questions that go along with each organism are great! So many step by step instructions!

Description

Students of all ages love to look at living microorganisms under the microscope. This "living lab" of protists, algae and protozoans (Protista Kingdom) provides an extensive look at many different species. This lab was written with a high school biology class in mind, but it is easily adaptable to younger grades.

What will the students be doing? Students view living Spirogyra, Volvox, Diatoms, Ameba, Euglena, Paramecium, Stentor, Dinoflagellates, and more! Students will make wet mount slides of a variety of protists, draw and label cells, make observations, and complete analysis questions.

This lab is the perfect activity to use when teaching about algae and protozoa. I use this lab when teaching the Protista Kingdom. You can view my teaching PowerPoint here: The Kingdom Protista: PowerPoint and Notes for Teacher and Student.
