SOAP opera star, Kristoff St John, was a beloved face on the CBS daytime show, The Young and the Restless. The actor passed away on February 3, 2019, at the early age of 52.

Who was Kristoff St John?

Kristoff St John was born in New York City on July 15, 1966.

Although his first major acting role was playing Charlie Richmond Jr in Charlie & Co, Kristoff was also well-known for his roles as:

Before his death, Kristoff won 10 NAACP Image Awards, as well as two Daytime Emmy Awards out of 11 nominations.

Both his father, Christopher, and his mother, Marie, worked in the entertainment business.

Did he have children?

Kristoff was married and divorced twice. His first marriage was to boxer Mia St John from 1991-1995 with whom he shared a son, Julian, and a daughter, Paris. Their son, Julian, unfortunately, died by suicide on November 23, 2014. Kristoff later married Allana Nadal in 2001 with whom he had a second daughter, Lola, but they divorced in 2007.

What was Kristoff St John's cause of death?

Kristoff's cause of death was linked to heart disease, which was exacerbated by alcohol use. TMZ reported that the actor's body was found at his home in San Fernando Valley when one of his friends went to check on him. There is no "foul play" suspected but one source claims that alcohol may have been a factor. Kristoff's son Julian died by suicide in 2014 after a long history of mental illness. In 2017 around the anniversary of his son's death, Kristoff threatened to kill himself with a gun and was given a psychiatric evaluation.

A year after Kristoff's death, his ex-wife, Mia told PEOPLE that their son's death greatly impacted his mental health.

"I don't think — I know," she told the outlet. "We were both terribly depressed and feeling suicidal from time to time, but his was so much deeper because there was so much guilt involved."

Kristoff is survived by his children and fiancée, the Russian model Kseniya Olegovna Mikhaleva who he planned to marry in fall of 2019.
