Say thank you with our card and gift ideas

Where would we be without teachers? A creative way that children and parents can show their appreciation for educators is with this Crafty Compliments Bouquet Card. The flowers open out so you can hide thoughtful compliments inside the petals!

These thank you cards are also a great gift to express thanks, as well as a fun colouring-in activity to encourage mindfulness. Great for kids to spend some time decorating and expressing their gratitude for teachers or their parents.

Also, if you wanted to have a go at creating some handmade gifts with the kids, this Resource Pack has a great variety of suggestions.

Instill an attitude of gratitude

Taking the time everyday to reflect on what you're grateful for has been proven to be beneficial to health and happiness. It's also something that can be taught with practice.

Here are a few ways you can encourage an attitude of gratitude in the classroom.

  • Check in. Whether this means going around the circle to say something you're grateful for, or having 5 minutes at the start of a lesson to write down something you appreciate, this simple activity can be really useful for encouraging mindfulness.
  • Warm fuzzies. These are kind words children can share with each other and their teacher. You could set up a gratitude display board where students can stick thank you notes to people they appreciate, even if it's anonymous, or give each student a mailbox where they can receive warm fuzzies.
  • Random acts of kindness. There are many ways you can do this. Children could anonymously draw names out of a hat and spend the next week helping their person feel valued. Or you could have a jar of RAK ideas that students could visit when they feel like doing something nice.
