In a retail environment filled with infinite choices all at the swipe of a finger, brick-and-mortar businesses have been struggling over the years to stay relevant. Say hello to the oh-so-stylish and well-designed fashion boutiques that are changing that. A visit to one of these shops is not just about buying clothes anymore—it's a total experience.

As more brands look to expand into different markets, many fashion designers have crossed the threshold into interior design. These shops pay homage to the days of Bonwit Teller and Selfridges, where opulent store fronts served as prime marketing opportunities, and a customer's experience was shaped by extra details like bubbling champagne, attentive sales associates, and luxe resting areas.

Today's shops are generally more curated then in their predecessors, with limited selections that feel personal to each customer. Luxurious interiors not only make shopping more pleasurable, but can also inspire your own chic closet refresh. These 10 gorgeous fashion boutiques will skyrocket to the top of your retail bucket list.

In keeping with the brand’s Australian roots, this new boutique located on Madison Avenue is designed by the architect Don McQualter and is a physical embodiment of the ZIMMERMANN brand—relaxed femininity, an air of light, and unyielding optimism. Influenced by the 1940s architecture of the building, ZIMMERMANN created the feel of a local apartment, furnished with mid-twentieth century and later pieces throughout. "After a recent trip to Copenhagen, I came away inspired by the aesthetic balance of warmth, modern and comfort we encountered. It seemed to relate well to what we are into—mixing antiques with the new, craft with the polished and folk with the contemporary. It’s an open approach to resourcing and decorating that can provide a timeless vibe, tasteful style and personal charm."— Billy Reid

The Webster in New York City

In 2009, Laure Heriard Dubreuil opened The Webster’s flagship location in Miami. Originally the Webster Hotel, the 20,000 square-foot Art Deco building was built in 1939 by architect Henry Hohauser.

Heriard Dubreuil, who grew up in Paris and worked as a top merchandiser for Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent before founding The Webster, kept the name but reimagined the three-story interior as a women’s and men’s multi-brand luxury boutique designed with vibrant intimacy to resemble a residential space.

“The idea was a place where you can feel very comfortable,” says Heriard Dubreuil of The Webster’s concept. “It’s a place to spend time. You arrive, you take off your shoes, you're at someone's house, or you're in your gigantic closet, and you can try everything.”

Rather than organize the store by brand, Heriard Dubreuil merchandises her stores as if they contained personal wardrobes, mixing big brands with the emerging and arranging everything intuitively by mood.

The deep shades of blue, green, purple and pink—inspired by Dorothy Draper's favorite color scheme—allow the grand columns and arches to stand out and add to the enchanting, theatrical motif of the luxurious boutique.

Nicole Musselman wanted to infuse the space with a relaxed beach vibe, but also included couture details such as repurposing fabric from previous lines to cover furniture and walls.
